Today Wintergreen has beautiful blue skies and fluffy white clouds! The rain has cleared out and we’re looking at cold temperatures tonight. Snowmaking returns and we’ll have all the trails resurfaced for this weekend. The national forecast for the weekend calls for light snow Friday into Saturday and seasonal temperatures highs in the 30′s and low’s in the 20′s perfect conditions to enjoy wintertime fun! A new use for Wintergreen real estate – TOUGH MUDDER Event!
Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet, Tough Mudder is coming to Wintergreen October 22 and 23, 2011. It’s Ironman meets Burning Man — a 10 mile obstacle course with 18 military-style obstacles, including electric shocks, ice-cold plunges, 8′ foot walls, barbed-wire crawls, 100′ long mud pits, and a patented FireWalker gauntlet of flames. Designed by British Special Forces, Tough Mudder is the absolute toughest mud-run out there, and is meant as a true test of all-around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. (Many obstacles are specifically designed to require teamwork.). Forget your finish time — just completing a Tough Mudder event is a badge of honor. Not everyone will complete the course, but those who do will be welcomed across the finish line with a free beer and entrance to the Dos Equis Post-Party where teams can recount the challenges of the course as they enjoy live music and classic Wintergreen food. And in case you needed another reason to sign up, Tough Mudder gives discounts for entrants who pledge to raise money for our official charity partner, the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that supports injured servicemen and servicewomen.
